TC1 & TMI1 Skill Sets

This unit of competency provides the skills and knowledge required to control traffic using a stop/slow bat to ensure the safety of construction and maintenance workers, and the general public. Vic Roads requires all field staff with responsibility for being a Traffic Controller / Traffic implementer to have completed the TC1 and TMI1 Skill Sets.

Entry Requirements

It is advisable that course participants have at least a basic level of literacy, numeracy and communication skills as well as a reasonable level of fitness and a desire to work outdoors.

Structure

This course consists of 2 Skill sets:
  • RIISS00058
  • RIISS00060

Delivery

  • 2 Days of trainer led classroom theory with assessments.
  • 1 Day of practical assessment in a controlled environment

Learning Outcomes

  • The course will prepare you in OHS roles and responsibilities Site traffic management plans Hazard and risk management Principles of traffic controlling Working with road users
  • A refresher course is also available, it is recommended you complete this every three (3) years.

Assessment

  • Suitable for TM Plan assessors Regulators, Auditors management and WHS personnel
  • Learners are only required to attend the theory and practical course.

*Please note with all courses undertaken verification of competency is required to complete your TC1 & TC2 Courses. Verification of the practical component requires you to have 20 hours of logbook experience before a training can visit your workplace and verify your competency for the practical component.
