 Enter and Work in Confined Spaces RIIWHS202D

This unit of competency aims to give course participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and competently enter and work in confined spaces. The course is appropriate for those working in or wishing to work in confined spaces (enclosed or partially enclosed) for the purpose of carrying out work or inspections and also is appropriate for those performing sentry or stand by person roles, at worksites within civil construction; coal mining; drilling; extractive industries; metalliferous mining and general construction.

Entry requirements

It is advisable that course participants have at least a basic level of literacy, numeracy and communication skills as well as a reasonable level of fitness and a desire to work outdoors.

Structure

This course consists of one (1) unit of competency.

Delivery

This course involves a one day class with our highly experienced training team. It will include presentations, group work and practical activities

Learning Outcomes

Course participants will learn about Applicable legislation and company confined space procedures Definitions and types of confined spaces Hazard identification and risk management procedures Hazardous atmospheres including, gas monitoring techniques Isolation, purging, ventilation, permits and authority Roles and responsibilities of teams including, standby Rescue equipment and procedures Industry case studies

Assessment

Assessment is against the National Standard, which applies in all states and territories. SysTec RTO’s assessors are fully licensed and accredited.

SysTec RTO will issue a Statement of Attainment on the successful completion of this unit of competency.
